About Us

We’ve worked and lived in Peru, South Korea and Malaysia. We’ve also spoken to many teaching families throughout the world about the highs, lows and challenges of living overseas as a teaching family.

About Kelly

As the founder of International Teaching Families, Kelly is a seasoned trailing spouse! With three kids under 13 who all attend international schools, she can help with questions about transitions for kids, logistics of moving as a family, what to expect as a parent and much more.

About Anthony

With over 20 years teaching experience and currently a Head of Department at his third international school Anthony can offer practical advice for teachers. For example, where to find jobs, how to apply, how to check if a school is family friendly, things to be aware of during recruitment and how to make your international school CV stand out.

What We Can’t Help With

We’re not a recruitment service, and we’re not affiliated with any international schools. We won’t be able to put you in touch with any schools directly or help you get a job. But we can chat to you about how you can apply for international schools and what you can do to help your CV stand out.

The aim of our chats is to help answer any questions you have about making the move abroad, and how the international education sector works. For teachers, we’re here to give you the confidence and insights to make the move to international teaching with your family. And for families, we’re here to answer any questions you have about what it’s like to live as an expat with your family.

FAQs for Chatting With Us

That’s totally fine – this chat is the perfect place to start! Whether you’re just starting to explore the idea of moving abroad or weighing up a few options, we’re happy to help you think through what matters most: school fit, lifestyle, cost of living, visa considerations, family support, and more.

Yes, you can absolutely chat if your spouse is the teacher. We know how much the experience of teaching abroad affects the whole family. Whether you’re the teacher or the “trailing spouse,” this conversation is for you. We can talk through everything from what life might look like for non-teaching partners to school communities, work opportunities, and what to expect on the ground.

This chat is about whatever you’d like to discuss – from our experience as an international teaching family. We’re not a recruitment agency or claim to be experts in prepping you for job interviews. But if you’re interested in chatting about interviews, Anthony can talk about his experiences and interview prep.

No, we’re not affiliated with any international schools or recruitment agencies. We’re completely independent. We’re not here to recruit or promote any particular school – we just want to offer honest, first-hand advice to help you make the right decision for your family.

We can chat about anything that’s on your mind – from how to choose the right school to apply for, finding housing, cost of living, school cultures, making friends, raising kids abroad, or even just what to pack. Every family is different, so we’ll tailor the chat to your questions.

Yes, we can definitely still chat even if you’ve already accepted an international teaching job! If you’re gearing up for departure or already packing boxes, we can offer practical advice for the transition.
