Would you recommend this school to other teaching families?

General Overview for Teaching Families
Colegio Gran Bretaña (CGB) is an international day school in Bogotá, founded in 1997. With around 460 students and 90 teachers, it’s known as Colombia’s most internationally diverse school, with over 50 nationalities represented. Instruction is in English, and the school prides itself on being the only one in Colombia where English is used as a true first language in teaching.
The school offers a broad academic programme combining British, American, and international systems. Students can graduate with up to three diplomas: the International Baccalaureate Diploma, a U.S. High School Diploma, and the Colombian Título de Bachiller. Programmes such as the IGCSE, IPC, IMYC, and British Primary curriculum complement the IB pathway, giving students flexible education options. CGB is accredited by CIS, NEASC, and is an IB World School.
CGB offers an extensive co-curricular programme, with activities ranging from swimming, karate, and horseback riding to music and the performing arts. The school also has three dedicated support departments focusing on emotional wellbeing, learning needs, and language acquisition, alongside a “No Bully Zone” policy.
Community appears to be a strong feature of life at CGB. Parents and students frequently describe it as a welcoming and respectful school, where the smaller size allows for genuine connections between families, staff, and learners. The campus itself has a distinctive hacienda-style atmosphere, with green spaces and a tranquil feel that sets it apart from the bustle of Bogotá. While traffic in the city can be challenging, the school provides transport options for staff.
For teachers, CGB offers a competitive package within the region, making it possible to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle in Bogotá. Expat staff note the supportive and international atmosphere, though feedback is mixed on areas such as PD and leadership, with some staff pointing to limited opportunities for growth and challenges in management.
