Best International Schools: Asia (For Families)

Best International Schools in Asia

Best International Schools in Asia for Families
Whether you’re a teacher considering your next move, or a parent looking for the right fit for your children, choosing an international school if you’re moving to Asia is a big decision.
That’s why we’re building a trusted guide to the best international schools across Asia – aiming to incorporate real insights from families who live and work there.
From Bangkok to Beijing, Kuala Lumpur to Kyoto, we want to show you what these schools offer, not just on paper, but in real life. Because a great school for families is about more than just academics or a job offer.
Our first family reviewed international schools are now available – Seoul Foreign School, British International School Phuket, Wellington College Bangkok, the International School of Phnom Penh, and the International School of Penang (Uplands) have all received decent ratings!
Korean International School (KIS) on Jeju Island, South Korea also received positive feedback – though be mindful the family who reviewed the school don’t have school aged children (and Jeju Island schools can be challenging given the high population of Korean students and issues with inclusion).
We also independently rate schools based on our own research. Top picks include Australian International School of Malaysia.
We’ll also let you know about schools that aren’t so family friendly, like High Tech Academy in Kazakhstan, NLCS Jeju and Hanoi Toronto School in Hanoi, Vietnam.
What Makes a School Family-Friendly?
Weโre looking at schools through the lens of teachers and parents. Some of the key factors weโre evaluating include:

- Flight allowances or annual travel support
- School fees for dependents
- Workplace culture for teaching couples or parents
- Support for single parents
- On-site childcare or early years options
- Student wellbeing and inclusion practices
- Family social life and community atmosphere
These are the things that can make or break your experience living and working abroad.
